UEFA Nations League group stage is over. Who qualified to the quarter finals?

19 November 2024

The line up of the teams that have qualified to the UEFA Nations League has been confirmed, after the 6th and final round of the group stages ended on Monday night. Denmark snatched the final spot after a tough draw away from home with Serbia, the match ended without any goals being scored, seeing Denmark secure qualifications and fending off Serbia's attempt to qualify for the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, a 1-1 draw between Croatia and Portugal meant that Josko Gvardiol's goal in the 65th minute in front of his home crowd saw his team qualify alongside group leaders Portugal, who took the lead early with a goal by Joao Felix. Cristiano Ronaldo was notably absent from the formation, having been sent home early from the national team's training camp to give way to feature in their last match of the group stages having securing top spot.

Coach Roberto Martinez explained, “The game against Croatia is important, we need to look at other players. We’re going to let go of Bernardo Silva, Pedro Neto, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended. We’re going to call up Fábio Silva and Quenda for the Under-21s.”
