Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo broke a major record in international football, after contributing to his country's 5-1 victory over Poland in the European Nations League. Ronaldo became the player with the most wins in international matches, reaching 132 victories, surpassing the previous record held by his former Real Madrid teammate, the Spaniard Sergio Ramos, who achieved 131 victories with his national team.

The Spaniard Iker Casillas comes in third place with 121 victories with the "La Roja" team.

With Casillas' final retirement from playing and Ramos' international retirement, Ronaldo will be able to enhance his new record in the coming period.

Ronaldo scored twice in Portugal's 5-1 win over Poland, the first from a Panenka penalty in the 72nd minute and the second from a stunning scissors kick in the 87th minute. Portugal secured qualification to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League after securing top spot in Group A with 13 points.
