German football legend Lothar Matthäus praised Egyptian star Omar Marmoush, who is performing remarkably this season in the German league with his team Eintracht Frankfurt. Marmoush, 25, tops the list of top scorers in the German league this season with 11 goals, tied with English star Harry Kane, Bayern Munich striker. While his team Eintracht Frankfurt is ranked third in the German league table with 20 points, six points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
Matthäus wrote in an article published on the Sky Sport Germany website: "With Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike, Frankfurt has two of the best strikers in its ranks. The two complement each other well."
He added: "If we were to vote for the best football player in the world every three months, Marmoush might currently be a candidate for the award. He is not only performing well in the German league, but also at the international level."
"But we have to say clearly that Marmoush benefits from his team, just like Harry Kane does at Bayern Munich. The team puts him in a special position and passes him the ball and in this way you can score a certain number of goals," Matthaus added.
