Brighton pulled off a major surprise by beating Manchester City (2-1) in the match that brought them together on Saturday evening, in the 11th round of the English Premier League.
Norwegian star Erling Haaland opened the scoring for the visitors in the 23rd minute of the first half.
But Brighton responded by scoring two consecutive goals through Brazilian striker Joao Pedro and English midfielder Matt Orley in the 78th and 83rd minutes, respectively.
For the first time in his coaching career, Spanish Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, suffered four consecutive defeats, after losing to Tottenham Hotspur (1-2) in the round of 16 of the English Professional League Cup, Bournemouth (1-2) in the last round of the English Premier League, and Sporting Lisbon (1-4) in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City's tally, after suffering its second consecutive defeat in the Premier League, stopped at 23 points, and it occupies second place in the league table, two points behind leaders Liverpool before its match against its guest Aston Villa later this evening. While Brighton Club raised its tally after this surprising victory to 19 points, and moved up to fourth place in the standings, awaiting the results of the rest of the matches of this round as well.
