Liverpool narrowly escaped defeat against Arsenal (2-2), at the Emirates Stadium in London, in the match that brought them together on Sunday evening, in the ninth round of the English Premier League.
Arsenal took the lead with a goal scored by star boy Bukayo Saka after nine minutes of the starting whistle. Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool captain, equalized for the guests in the 18th minute of the first half.
Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino scored his first goal for Arsenal to put the home team in the lead again three minutes before the end of regular time in the first half.
But Egyptian star Mohamed Salah saved the Reds from defeat by scoring his second goal in the 81st minute of the match that took place at the Emirates Stadium in the capital, London.
Liverpool settled for a single point after this draw, and remained in second place in the Premier League standings with 22 points, one point behind Manchester City, who beat their guest Southampton (1-0) yesterday, Saturday. While Arsenal occupies third place on the standings with 18 points.
